Ten emergent dance professionals from the Mediterranean and beyond were invited to be part of an international “think–tank” encounter as Artists-in-Residence of the DBM Mediterranean Dance Meeting in Barcelona. During seven days, this group (choreographers, visual artists and theoreticians) will exchange artistic knowledge, experiences and practices in group debates about the projects each one of them have just made or are working on, individually or in collaboration with other artists. The participants will also be immersing themselves in the performances, conferences and talks bringing their feedback and reflections to the discussion table.

La Mekanica is a non-profit professional cultural organization based in Barcelona whose mission is to develop contemporary performing artsin Spain within an international context.
Focusing on contemporary dance and performance, and by listening to artists, La Mekanica facilitates a variety of activities that provide artists and cultural workers supportive resources for the development of their own work in contexts of research, creation, presentation, debate andexchange.
These activities include the organization of an artist-in-residence program, projects of international collaboration with partner organizations in and outside of Europe, and the organization of FESTIVAL COMPLICITATS, a biannual international dance event that is dedicated to the presentation of "new" approaches, values and works in the field of international contemporary dance and committed to artistic mobility and intercultural exchange.

Nowadays La Mekanica is based in an old industrial ship in Barcelona which houses the organization offices as well as a studio for rehearsals and residencies.
