Synopsis
The video installation OLYMPIA SOTTOVUOTOby Andrea Fagarazzi and I-Chen Zuffellato explores the body subjected to an extreme condition. A common fridge-counter, that we usually find at supermarkets, becomes the space-surface that hosts the film. In this way, the installation renders a conception of "constriction" to explore the consequent implications that influence the possibilities of movement, the performer's multiple mental and emotional states.
The possible existence of an airless space, the possibility of existing in a plastic dimension. The virgin space, innocent, it assorbs any hypothesis. The body is confronted with the limit, tries to overcome, dumpens itself, the flesh overlooks flattened, it pleats, jangles. The space changes, becomes more hostile, the temparature raises and the friction of the humid skin burns.
Seizing the limit between being and not being, formulating a new affiliation. Breathing the air created by herself, the performer abandons herself to a state of complete disorientation, in the echo of her own memories, in a place, where the performance occures, without history and in which time does not yet exist.
It' s a body that wants to break up and that, because of the limitation of the order in which it is created, would like to rearrange itself , change proportions...but it's also an Olympia that lives the narcicism of her own self and dwells on poses of slight castrations.
A body bound within the sterility of a packaging, that divides, protects, closes, compresses, classifies also the food that we buy, "guaranty of freshness, integrity and identification".

"In the video Olympia Sottovuoto I-Chen Zuffellato becomes a piece of meat, well-packed chicken, translucent fetus and a young Ophelia drowned in a river of plastic. The electronic eye of Andrea Fagarazzi chooses the close-up, opens the bodily matter, insinuates itself in the details and plaits rendering through the occluded montage the asphyxiation of the performer..."
